AI wargame conductor

JOSHUA

AI-conducted wargaming for the entire space and ground system

Play out and compare courses of action across your whole space system — before you commit real assets. An operator conducts a live digital twin in natural language: build the scenario, inject faults and adversary effects, and watch the sensor-to-response chain play out end to end.

> wargame:

awaiting scenario…

Δt --.-s NOMINAL

Illustrative only — a stylised impression of how a scenario plays out, not the operational system.

A live tactical display: a prompted scenario injects a fault at a satellite, the effect propagates down the sensor-to-response chain — event, observable, ingest, detection, decision, tasking, effect — and the measured response time and truth-versus-belief state resolve as the wargame plays out.

The problem

Space systems have outgrown the operator.

Space and ground architectures have become large, heterogeneous systems — producing vast datasets, governed by complex planning cycles, and increasingly integrated with other domains. They now carry more information than any operator can hold unaided.

And the consequences of a tasking or topology choice cannot be tested before commitment. In space, that commitment is costly: assets are few, and choices are hard to reverse — so the cost of a wrong one is discovered operationally.

You can't rehearse a decision you can't model.

What it is

A live digital twin you wargame in natural language.

JOSHUA composes a virtual space segment and a representative, software-defined ground segment into a single conducted digital twin — and gives you an AI conduct layer to wargame it. It is built for AI from the ground up: the AI observes, interrogates and tasks the whole system, so the operator works with the scenario, not the software.

Its virtual space segment is a scalable fleet of configurable modelled vehicles, stood up on demand — five, ten, twenty as the scenario needs — feeding the twin through spacecraft-conformant interfaces. Scenarios are built and run in plain language; the complexity underneath is handled for you.

01

Natural-language conduct

Construct scenarios, task the topology and inject effects — all in plain language.

02

A scalable modelled fleet

Configurable vehicles, orchestrated on demand to match the constellation under study.

03

Truth vs belief

The twin builds belief from the operational feed; the conductor holds truth. The gap is what JOSHUA measures.

04

Secure by design

Zero-trust throughout, able to run as an isolated enclave for sensitive defence environments.

The sensor-to-response chain

Every hop, measured.

JOSHUA measures the path from a sensor event to a delivered decision. Every hop is timestamped, so faults and adversary effects become telemetry, not table-talk — you cannot shorten a chain you cannot measure.

What sets it apart

Four ideas at its core.

JOSHUA is defined by how it sees the system, how it's operated, how it's engineered, and where it runs.

01

Systems viewpoint

JOSHUA models the entire space and ground system as one connected whole. A jammed link, a downed station or a retasking plays through the whole chain the way it would in reality — so you see consequences, not components in isolation.

02

AI first

Built for AI from the ground up. An AI agent observes, interrogates and tasks across the whole system, so you conduct the scenario in natural language — working with the problem, not the software beneath it.

03

Best-in-class technology stack

A modern, event-driven microservice architecture, written in Rust and deployed on Kubernetes — fully orchestrated, so components scale and recover on their own. Fast, secure, and built to stay maintainable as it grows.

04

UK sovereign

Runs on sovereign UK infrastructure, secure by design and able to operate as an isolated enclave — with no dependency on any single cloud or vendor. Hosting is your choice: on-premises, sovereign or public cloud.

And by building on emerging AI-agent standards, JOSHUA exposes standardised, controlled interfaces that let other agents interact with it — a foundation for standardising AI interfaces across trusted suppliers and allied partners.

Who it's for

One capability, four missions.

Rehearsal is the cheapest response-time improvement there is.

01

Operational planning & rehearsal

Wargame the path from detection to response, and rehearse the choices that shorten it — before real assets are committed.

02

Threat analysis & strategy

Stress the system as assets and links are lost, and rehearse the response against faults and adversary effects.

03

Mission design & analysis

Add candidate assets to the modelled system and assess what they change — informing requirements and procurement.

04

Training

Exercise operators against conditions too risky or costly to produce live, on demand and repeatably.

The platform

Built on our own sovereign platform.

JOSHUA runs on our own dedicated, UK-sovereign hosting platform. The entire workload is built as containers and deployed into Kubernetes — fully orchestrated, so every part deploys, scales and recovers on its own.

It is built on a microservice architecture — small, independent services that can be developed, deployed and scaled separately, keeping the system resilient and easy to evolve as it grows. Every service communicates zero-trust, over a single system-wide Protocol Buffers data model.

Written in Rust

A memory-safe, high-performance core — fast and secure, and built to stay maintainable as it grows.

Containerised & orchestrated

Every workload ships as a container and runs on Kubernetes — fully orchestrated, deploying, scaling and self-healing on its own.

GitOps deployment

Declarative and version-controlled — infrastructure as code, continuously reconciled to the desired state.

Zero-trust by default

Every service authenticates every call, over a system-wide data model — security designed in, not bolted on.

UK-sovereign hosting

Runs on our own dedicated sovereign platform — or a customer’s bare metal or cloud. No lock-in to any single vendor.

The data model

One data model, evolving in lockstep.

Every part of JOSHUA speaks a single, strongly-typed data model, defined in Protocol Buffers — the common language shared across the space segment, the ground chain and the AI conduct layer.

The real power is in how it evolves. Bespoke tooling lets us define, manage and change the model continuously, and every component interfaces with it dynamically — so the whole system moves in lockstep as the model grows, with none of the brittle, hand-wired integration that usually makes change expensive.

  • Protocol Buffers

One strongly-typed schema — the shared language every component speaks.

  • Versioned & evolvable

Defined, managed and evolved continuously with bespoke tooling.

  • Dynamic interfacing

Every component adapts to the model as it changes, in lockstep.

  • Integration-first

New sources and services slot in behind the same interfaces.

Who's behind it

A joint team, a sovereign platform.

JOSHUA is built by a joint team of two established UK micro-SMEs, on a sovereign platform, with extensive combined experience across space, secure systems and AI engineering.

NuSpace

Space and ground segment engineering — the virtual fleet, the ground chain and the interfaces between them.

Mongoose

Secure-systems engineering, sovereign hosting and wargame-engine development.

Both organisations are security-assured. Each is certified and independently held to recognised UK defence and cyber standards.
