About JOSHUA

The composition layer, not another simulator

JOSHUA doesn't simulate spacecraft or ground stations itself — that's the job of two sibling systems, AURELIA (the spacecraft environment) and ATLAS (the ground segment environment). JOSHUA composes them, and adds what neither can provide alone: a scenario conductor, and a way to measure what happens in between.

Two hats, never one brain. The twin knows only what the operational feed carries — its picture of the world is a belief, built the way a real operations centre builds one. The conductor holds privileged truth: it injects faults and threats and controls the scenario. The gap between what the twin believes and what the conductor knows is what JOSHUA measures.

One model, three bindings

A single canonical data model binds to JOSHUA three ways, at rising fidelity: direct from AURELIA, via ATLAS through a standards-compliant ground chain, or from a real ground segment as a live, ingest-only, one-way feed. The wire changes; the meaning doesn't.

Every hop is timestamped — event, observable, ingest, detection, decision, tasking, effect. Faults and threats become telemetry, not table-talk. You cannot shorten a chain you cannot measure.

An AI conductor, not an oracle

Prompt-driven scenario injection — "degrade a solar string on satellite A" — operates a deterministic system and narrates measured results; it never invents outcomes. Built on open standards, MCP for tools and A2A for agents, so the AI model itself is a replaceable part.
